welcome to singapore focus videos recently we noticed that there are many companies come to singapore to register their trademark in order for them to expand their business to other countries so we think maybe it's a good chance that we take these opportunities to share what are things you need to take note if you register a trademark in singapore so first of all as we know the trademark is a kind of sign it is a symbol that identifies a brand or a company or a series of products or services so it is help the customers customers to identify which one they are looking for so the trademark can be the combination of words letters and maybe in some language as a character's numbers shapes and color combination so according to the nice classification all the services and products are classified into 45 categories so from category 1 to category 34 they are the physical products which are physical products that you can touch that you can see and from category 35 to gateway 45 these are the services so when we do the treatment the registration the first thing we need to do is that we need to search what are the products or services that you need to protect and put inside of the application and when we do the application there are certain things that we need to take note first trademark must not duplicate with other people's trademark and second the treatment must not be very similar and create confusion to the audience or to the buyers and third if the pronunciation of the words inside mark is very similar to another mark this will also be rejected and next is that the treatment must not be a well-known name or locations in the country for example in singapore you can't register trademark as a reference place and you can't register trademark as a chinatown and next is that the treatment must not be similar or close to the government agency's name that create confusion so in conclusion the mark has to be unique and is identifiable and easily distinguished from other trademarks so when the trailer has been granted it's bounded to the geographical locations the jurisdictions for example if the treatment is registered in singapore is protected in singapore if you want your mouth to be protected in malaysia thailand japan china u.s or europe you have to register your trademark in that location or that region so there are two ways of doing that you can either apply through the local agent directly or you can do it through madrid protocol to do a multiple location application at one goal and as we know that there is a certain terms called international brand or international trademark but in the real fact is that when a brand is well known in the world in many countries and the treatment is registered and protected in many countries this kind of brand can be called as international treatment or world brand but for your brand if you want to do that you have to plan carefully where you want to go and how you want to apply and what is your application budget so this is the today's video that we shall see you next time you
Thanks lonerdudeg your participation is very much appreciated
