why am i not alone why is it not alone why is it not allowing me to show my display settings would you answer me that question zoom zoom you are being difficult okay can you all see and here if if you can't drop a note in the chat box um if you have questions along the way raise your hand i'm a bit of a holler back presenter so if you need to ask something that's burning on your mind i think the best way to learn is to get the questions off of your chest and so that you can learn as quickly as possible and we will work from there one moment here okay good morning everyone welcome to trademarks ip madrid protocol we're going to talk a lot about the nature of intellectual property we're going to talk about the different forms of intellectual property we're going to talk about intellectual property that is relevant to smes we're going to talk a lot about your trademark the value of brands brands are without a doubt valuable assets for your business and we thought about the most valuable assets in the world so we really want to get into this we're going to talk about the madrid protocol my screen sharing has decided that it's going to stop again so off we go yeah you can see that from the beginning again right there we go we all seeing and hearing good so after great start already um today we're going to talk about the introduction to intellectual property uh we're going to talk about the definition of intellectual property types of intellectual property we're gonna talk specifically about trademarks and the madrid protocol and we'll end with the conclusion there's some cool questions some silly questions really simple stuff we would want to ask you all along the way feel no pressure to answer if you feel pressured to answer well please answer that would be good for us if you don't know the answer you could google it i would suggest you google it and if you don't know how to google it then you can google how to google it because these days google is a valuable resource so what is intellectual property intellectual property or ip refers to the express creations of the mind and as you can see regardless of how small your mind may be it's once it is an express creation of the mind it is intellectual property and it is protected by different forms of intellectual property yeah a key word there is expressed it needs to be expressed it needs to be created it needs to become tangible it can't just stay in your mind if it stays in your mind then you have a bit of a problem insofar as it hasn't been expressed so it needs to be created and there's a good example we talk about with this guy i don't know if any of you know who that monkey is but his name is naruto and he became world famous fairly recently a few years ago he took a selfie of himself so it in essence a photographer came set up a camera and put it to take automatic photos and this monkey came up to the camera in the wildlife this was in indonesia came up to the camera took a photo of himself perfect teeth i mean just look at that smile this is fantastic most humans can't take a smile as good as that orange you know this great wildlife photo and it became an international discussion as to who should own the rights to this photo so naruto took a photo of himself that was the argument and we have all these people saying they're a bunch of different owners that are possible in this scenario so we're going to do a quick poll question as we start and garvin is going to put up our poll question for us now so the question is who do you think should we narrate herself is it a naruto himself of himself or is it the photographer david slater david sleta is a british photographer i took it or is it government of indonesia because it was indonesia and then you know it's a monkey that was indonesia i'm seeing david slitzer and naruto are neck and neck right now okay no naruto taking a step back david sweets are going up we have the government of indonesia you know it's it's a very interesting concep
Thanks Reynaldo your participation is very much appreciated
