How to get brand collaborations

Comment by Linette Lardone

you are about to learn three things that you could do today to make it more likely for brands to find you and land brand collaborations on instagram whether you have 1 000 followers or 100 000 followers what's up everyone it's millie welcome back to my channel where i post videos every wednesday teaching you the latest strategies and trends on social media to help you grow your business so give a little love tap on that subscribe button to stay up to date on all the latest tips and tricks i have for you first i want to say a huge thank you to this video's shout outs i literally wouldn't be able to do all this if it wasn't for each and every one of your support so if you want a shout out in one of my future videos make sure to screenshot yourself watching this video and tag me on instagram stories or leave a comment below and subscribe to my channel as always timestamps will be in the comments down below because i value your time and you already know why you're here so let's get into it now if you're specifically looking for a video talking about how to land brand collaborations and all the different third-party platforms that you should be on then watch this video after this because in this video i'm going to teach you the changes that you should apply to your instagram account to make it easier for brands to find you let me start with the biggest question that i always get every time i bring up brand collaborations and that is how many followers do you need to have in order to land a paid collaboration there is no magic number everyone has this like preconceived notion in their head that they need to have 10 000 followers before they deserve to get paid brand collaborations when in reality your worth and your value is defined by you not an instagram vanity metric so tell me why are you waiting for a number to change before you start seeing how valuable you truly are so i've helped a student with under 800 followers land a paid collaboration with a skin care line and yes while it may had only been 50 for a post that's still probably 50 dollars more than what you would charge at 800 followers so if your follower number doesn't matter then millie what does if you've been following me for some time you will know that when brands are picking influencers to partner with they are mainly looking at two aspects your influence and your parallels now by influence i mean can you move your audience have you created a community of people who will actually listen to you how is your engagement on instagram brands pay influencers because they want access to your audience so no matter how big or how small your tribe is they're going to pay people who can connect with their tribe and that's that your influence can be measured in many many ways and the most common way right now that brands use to measure your influence is your engagement rate so your engagement rate is normally calculated by the total number of likes and comments that you have per post divided by the number of followers you have on average brands look for a three to four percent engagement rate on instagram specifically so if we're gonna break this video down into like tips or action items the first thing you want to make sure you have on your profile is an engagement of three to four percent or higher there are many ways that you can calculate your engagement rate and there's websites that can do this for you so the website that i typically go to to see how my engagement rate is doing is not just analytics.com now if you're sitting here and you're like well shoot milly my engagement sucks um i have this video here for how you can increase your engagement rate so make sure you watch that at the end of this video your parallels are basically what you as a personal brand and the brand have in common so are you the right vessel to be talking about their product do you both have similar niche types values audience types all the things so these are all questions that should be running through your mind as well when you're picking which brands you should partner with like will partnering with them be a natural fit or will your audience be like hey what the heck this is weird this is random like if i'm an instagram coach and that's what i post on my instagram uh maybe talking about clorox or windex wouldn't make any sense right now going back to our parallels there are multiple ways that you can communicate these parallels clearly on your instagram that will help you become more discoverable on the platform now how can you do that you may be wondering well the best place to do that is in your bio gone are the days of putting inspirational quotes in your bio and i mean like gone gone gone gone gone they are they're out of here okay your bio should be filled with juicy keywords or searchable terms that communicate who you are what you do and who you do it for to show you why this is actually important i am going to take you behind the scenes so that you can see exactly what brands can see when they're looking for influencers so i've been lucky enough to get a behind-the-scenes look for you guys on an influencer marketing solution that helps discover contact monitor audit influencers on a unified platform called favicon who is also the sponsor of today's video babycon was generous enough to give me access to what their brands get access to and see on their end so that i could share with you all this top secret information let's dive into a screen share so i can show you all the searching abilities this is a behind the scenes look at favicon right now i'm just taking a look at the influencer search using advanced search section to allow brands to find the most relevant influencers using specific keywords so as you can see up here i can search by hashtags or keywords i can search for these keywords within their bio so if i'm an influencer and i'm looking for somebody that's a fashion blogger right i could type fashion blogger in the bio and another thing that is really helpful is you can search by city so if they have san diego in their bio and i need a san diego influencer i can type in san diego for the city or even san diego in the bio let's test this out right now so i want to search lifestyle blogger so anybody who's used the hashtag lifestyleblogger and in their bio i want them to be in california no obviously 18 or older i want accounts with an email address so i can contact them influencer tier you have nano micro let's do micro influencers you could do from zero to 50 000 so that's like nano and micro influencers engagement rate average three percent let's search cool so i do have like just a limited account so that i could see the general use of all the functionalities so as you can see the search results is pulling up a list of profiles that matched everything that i put in on the left hand side over here and then we have these individual accounts which are all based on a one to five system ranking that favicon has and there's over 50 criteria for this specific ranking so what we're going to do we're going to go into the influencer audit section so when we're doing this influencer audi

the influencer marketing industry continues to see explosive growth and today is valued at over 13 billion dollars with that being said it's totally possible for content creators to get paid real money from brands that they love so in today's youtube video i am going to dive into my five biggest tips for getting more paid brand deals in 2022. hey everyone welcome back to my channel or welcome if you're new here my name is austin and i am a fashion and beauty content creator based in new york city here on my youtube channel i help micro influencers create great content grow their digital brands and generate sustainable income from content creation so if any of that interests you please do consider subscribing to my channel for new videos every tuesday in my almost 10 years as an influencer i've gotten to work with some really amazing brands like new york times hellofresh walmart kohl's glossier and more even as a micro influencer and brand deal's accounted for more than half of my total creator income from 2021 so today i wanted to go through my top five tips for content creators that frankly most content creators and influencers are not doing that will help you land more paid brand deals and get responses when you pitch brands let's get right into it starting with my number one tip which is please make it easy for brands to contact you and offer you brand deals i'll give you an example from my personal life so just about five years ago i was sitting on my couch in my brooklyn apartment with my roommate watching the bachelor and i was complaining about how i never get to go on any dates i never meet anybody and she was like are you trying to though and she was completely right i was all about my new job as an editor at nylon and when i wasn't working at nylon i was at home trying to build my blog i was not on dating apps i wasn't really going out and meeting people and so as a result i wasn't dating anybody so i got on some apps which you know sucks but i got on them i went out and lo and behold i ended up meeting andrew but the point of my story is to put yourself out there and make it known that you are interested so is your email in your instagram bio are you signed up on the influencer network so that you can receive brand opportunities that are a fit for you do you have a partnerships page on your website this is one that i really wish more creators would do i originally got the idea from brittany hennessey's book called influencer and i definitely would recommend that all creators create a partnerships page on their blog i'll share mine on the screen so you can see what it looks like it's really just a quick description of what working with me is like naming some previous brand partners and then actually embedding previous examples of sponsored posts on my instagram my tick tock my youtube and my blog it may sound really simple but again you'd be surprised how many creators are actually not doing this let's move on to my second tip which is to focus on building relationships before you focus on sealing deals i could use a dating example here again but i think you got the idea of the last one a lot of content creators decide to reach out to brands and try to hold pitch them which can sometimes work and you're totally allowed to try but the cold pitch email success rate is between one and five percent so you'll need to send 100 emails to get one to five people just to respond to you and that doesn't guarantee that they'll end up working with you so rather than trying to cold pitch a brand partnership right out of the gate i believe that if you have not yet talked to a brand if you don't have a contact there but you're really passionate about them either a because you've tried their products and love them or b because you've tried similar products and brands and you have a feeling your audience would love them as well that's a great reason to reach out to the brand and try to get an introduction to them i have been really lucky to do 15 minute to 30 minute intro calls with brands like verst which i'm now an affiliate for first steve madden first aid beauty and other brands that maybe i haven't worked with in a paid capacity yet but now they understand who i am they've put a face to my name and i've gotten a chance to get on the phone and ask them questions like hey how are you working with influencers right now or like what are your main focuses for this next quarter it's truly unbelievable what a tiny bit of either facetime or what a phone call can do for you and building a relationship with brands that you care about and again you can do this from anywhere if you're in a major city and you know brands are too you can obviously reach out for a quick coffee meeting or something in person but realistically a lot of people are going to do this virtually even if they are based in major studies like i am i also wanted to mention that in a similar vein to this it is much easier to resign an existing client than to go out and get a new client the success rate of selling to a customer who's already purchased something from you once is between 60 to 70 while the success rate of selling to a customer who's not yet bought anything from you is only five to twenty percent so don't discount your previous brand partners in fact they should be the first people that you're reaching out to in order to see if they want to work with you again if you had a good experience with them once you place the building blocks for this relationship and make it clear that you're interested in working with a brand when it's time for them to cast for campaigns you will be top of mind and they'll end up reaching out to you i think that sometimes in business we feel a lot of pressure to just focus on what the next money-making activity we're doing is but networking is extremely important in this industry it's very small and close-knit and everybody knows everybody else so it really is worth it to spend the time building these connections on a similar note of relationship building my third tip is that copy and paste pitches just don't fly anymore i fully believe that a super short and to the point customized pitch to a brand will get you a higher response rate than a long-winded email that is copy and pasted to 30 different brands about how much you want to work with them and how much you love their brand and again yes this does take a little bit longer but it will also get you more results if you guys want access to my complete pitching strategy for brands where i talk about everything from what makes a pitch stand out to things to do before you pitch looking at pitch templates on a pitch checklist i do have all of that packaged together in my ebook called write on pitch it's available on my website and that really has my in-depth strategy and different tactics for how i have been successful pitching brands in the past but just to give you a little taste of what's in there in this video today i would say that there are three main things that you should include in your pitch email number one is either a really quick intro of yourself or your idea and again if you're
