how to cite patent in endnote

Comment by Luciano Keiter

is very very important part so that needs your kind attention so first of all uh i have already installed um endnote software so what i will do i will just start that endnote software if you haven't installed that then you should install your software so what i will do first i will create new library here so i will select a location you can give any name you want then i have some text now i want to have an apa style okay i want citation and bibliography in the form of apa format so let's uh let's do it i will go to the google chrome and i will type google scholar their global scholar so text is about agile software model or agile process model so that that is just i'm just giving you a demo t okay so suppose that i want to have this i want to cite this paper so what i will do i will click this is a site icon so i will click on that site icon so this is mla apa style chicago harvard vancouver so i will click on the endnote here this is basically these the file scholar e and w in w means that is endnote extension file exe file so i will click on that file and that will import the citation and bibliography into directly into the endnote software so i will select that and then i will back to i will be back to the word file suppose that i want to cite here at the end of the methodology so what i will do i will select that and then this is a insert citation option i will click on this look at that this is basically citation and here comes the bibliography it is important to note that when you are going for apa style you must select here aps style as well and as well as your endnote format this is apa style now i want to go for another paper so basically there are three major types for the citation when you're going for an any style in the paragraph api or harvard at the start of this at the start of the subject at this start of the sorry at the start of the paragraph at the middle of the paragraph and then at the end of the paragraph so what i did what i did is i just cited this the text the citation at the end of the sentence now i want to cite the text the citation i want to quote at the middle of at the middle of the sentence suppose that i want to suppose that i want to cite here i want to cite here after the documentation part so what i will do this is a very very critical um point so mostly students mostly researchers makes that mistake here so what i will do i will again open and note i will download it here comes the another citation holder so what i will do i will i want to paste it here i will open now you see when you are going to have citation at the end of the sentence then you must follow this type of apa style if you are going to have citation at the middle of the sentence then this is not correct this is incorrect so what you will do there must be authors and year must be in parenthesis so what i will do i will select the citation and i will go to edit and manage this is holder this is a default so i will select as display author here is this now this is a perfect style for when you for eps style when you're going at the middle of the sentence it will not affect your your bibliography this is a bibliography so now i want to cite another paper or another another paper or another article at the start of the sentence suppose that i want to cite here those who would brand prominence of the xp or scrum or any of the other agile methodologies as hackers are ignorant of the both methodologies and the original definition of the term hacker so i want to cite here i will again i will go back to the google scholar suppose that this is this is a paper this is an article that is of concerned so what i will do i will side here again i will on the endnote it will download exe file it will directly come into the endnote now i want to paste it here right before this sentence i will bring the cursor here click on it and then i will click on that so it will again now this is also incorrect when you are going to have a reference a citation sorry at the end of the sentence then it says okay but if you are going to have this sentence at the end it is start or at the middle then you will have to change it so what i will do i will edit on that i will display select as display as author and then this is now that's it so you can write that according to the according to the according to this comma there and that's you can do that's how you can do so it will select it it is important to know that apa automatically uh when you uh when you process when you do the citation or bibliography through endnote it will automatically arrange the bibliography in alphabetical order so that's that's a very very big big plus here so you can see it is very very easy it's um freely available on the internet you can download an endnote there any type of version 7 8 9 or 10 and just go for it so this is a very very simple process that will save your time it is an efficient process it will it will save you a hell of time so if you like this vid that's all if you like this video go to my channel and subscribe that videos like this thank you so much and have a good day

in this video I'm going to show you how to insert and delete citations within No so in order to insert citations into a manuscript with EndNote you have to have an EndNote library built and you can build it as you're writing or you can have it built ahead of time but either way you have to have an EndNote library before you can cite and it has to be open when you're citing so our EndNote library is open right now and I'm going to go to my manuscript so I'm ready to cite in my manuscript the first thing I want to look for is make sure to make sure that I have an EndNote tab up here mine is EndNote x6 because that's what I'm using right now but there yours could be x5 or x4 depending on whichever version you're using don't get the EndNote tab confused with the references tab this is a word tool it's completely separate so we don't have to worry about it so to cite I want to click on my EndNote x6 tab and I'm going to select where I want to cite in the document so if I click here right after this first paragraph I'm ready to cite all I have to do is go up to this magnifying glass up here when I hover over it it says find citation so when I click on the magnifying glass it's going to pop up a window now what I do to find the citations is I just hit the enter the letter a and hit the enter key on my keyboard and it'll show me all the citations that are in my library that is open right now so I can choose which ones I want to cite I can choose just one or I can hold down the ctrl key on my keyboard and choose more than one and I hit insert so when I insert you'll see that my site in-text citations are automatically added if I click on them they're highlighted gray and little a little box will pop up over each of them so you can see which citation was entered there if I scroll down you can see my bibliography here to push that down a little you can see the citations were automatically formatted and inserted here for me so there's one other way that you can insert citations you can again select where you want the citation to go so I'm going to site right here at the end of the second paragraph I'm going to go back to my EndNote library and I can choose my citations from my EndNote library so again I could choose just one or hold down the ctrl key on my keyboard and choose more than one and there's an insert citation button here at the top so when I hover over it you'll see it says insert citation I'm going to click on that my citations are entered into my manuscript when I scroll down they're added to my bibliography so you may be asking what if this bibliography doesn't look like your bibliography how it's supposed to look exactly this is probably because you have to choose the style based on which journal you're submitting to so when I come up here to the top you'll see my style is Vancouver right now they're in don't calls these output styles so I can click on the drop-down menu you'll see I have a lot of styles listed but I can go to select another style at the top and I'll see a list of styles here so if I was going to be submitting to JAMA or if I wanted just a basic medical style I could choose JAMA click OK and my references are automatically modified for me you can change the style as many times as you want so if you're not sure where you're going to submit right now you can change the style again at a later time so one really important thing to remember is we've inserted these citations but what happens if we want to remove a citation you cannot just use the backspace key on your keyboard again you can't just backspace these out now it will work at first though backspace so you'll think oh it's working great but at some point it's going to corrupt your Word document so don't use the backspace key to get rid of a citation highlight the one you want to get rid of go up here under your EndNote tab again and click on edit and manage citations and you'll see your list of citations so here's my two citations I can remove the one that I want to get rid of just going to go to edit reference and remove citation when I click okay it's going to renumber and reorder my citations for me so again don't use the backspace key use the edit and manage citations button if you have any questions about using EndNote you can contact the research medical library at our ml - help at MD Anderson org or at two two two eight two
