in this video i'll cover five simple steps to building your brand using social media social media is a powerful tool for building your brand because it allows for detailed market segmentation as well as efficient communication with your various audience groups but most people do not effectively harness the power of social media for brand building because they fail to take a systematic approach there are five straight forward steps to improving your social media branding whether you're doing it for personal reasons or for business purposes step one determine your target audiences and what types of content interests them the most many people do not take the time to contemplate sufficiently regarding who their various target audiences are if you represent a business this does not mean only your customers or your potential customers it also means your employees your suppliers market influencers regulatory agencies and maybe even your competition if you're an individual building your personal or professional brand on the other hand your audience will include your current employers your potential employers and maybe even your past employers as well as your coworkers your various mentors and potential mentors and the people who will be recommending you to others and providing you with networking opportunities after you've identified those various audiences take the time to get to know them well enough to understand the types of content that interests them the most this is a crucial step because this will determine your primary social media platforms the content you'll create curate and share and the nature of that content if possible identify similarities or consistencies across your audiences that will allow you to create efficiencies in your content production and content delivery step two choose the one or two or three best platforms to reach those audiences when i say best this means the overlap of the best for them as well as the best for you if they tend to like visual imagery for example but you don't have the skills for stick with a platform that focuses on static imagery instead of moving or dynamic imagery if they want audio but you'd rather write than speak consider a platform where you can hire a voice over professional to turn your writing into audio the key is to find the platforms that your audiences use as well as the platforms that fit your set of skills and resources step 3 create content that is both relevant to your various target audience needs and tailored to the social media platforms you're using when talking about relevance this means not only that the information has to be what your audience needs and wants but also that the format and delivery of the content needs to be developed in a manner that resonates with your audiences and with the situations in which they'll consume your content finally as much as i'm a fan of innovation and rebelling against the market norms do not try to twist the platform's norms to meet your own desires for example if long form written content is the best method to provide your messaging don't try to squeeze instagram or snapchat or tick tock into a long form written content platform step four connect with your audiences and start building communities one of the great advantages of social media marketing is the ability to build communities across a wide span of geographic areas not only can it bring people together from different locations but it can also unite people of different backgrounds incomes environments etc because they have a similar or common interest in a topic or issue gone are the days that your community building was limited to a particular city or geographic region so how do you build communities talk to them listen to them and encourage them to communicate with each other the idea isn't for you to drive all the conversations but for you to participate in the conversations when truly appropriate in other words when you have something valuable to add to the discussion and don't forget to compliment and encourage those community members who take the time and effort to engage because in essence they're helping you to build this community and in the long run it's their community as much as it's yours keep aware at all times of opportunities to build your brand subtly while you support and facilitate your community's interactions step five stay active by posting and interacting on a consistent basis depending on the platform your audiences and the nature of your community engagement this could be once or twice a week it could be even multiple times per day there are no set rules on what works best and anyone out there who tells you otherwise either doesn't understand social media or they're just plain misleading you to find the sweet spot of how much interaction is the right amount you'll need good old-fashioned trial and error what works for someone else for a chosen platform may not work for you because you have a unique audience and a unique set of contributions to your community and be careful not to over post or over interact the key is to spend more time listening than talking also when you do communicate actively bring others into the conversation think about who else can add some insights or answer a question spend as much time connecting audience members with each other as you do messaging to your audience and remember that posts and interactions aren't just about you and your brand they're about building a community around your brand if you follow these five steps you'll be well on your way to building your brand using the power of social media so as a recap to build your brand on social media determine your target audiences and their favorite content select appropriate platforms create content relevant to your audiences and to the platforms build communities and interact and engage consistently i'm anthony miyazaki and this has been the marketing minute be sure to there are many things that we can do to build brand awareness for our business one of the main and freeways is through social media marketing and in this video i want to go over four simple strategies that i use to help build my brand awareness through social media that i know will work for you so make sure you stick around to the very end of this video because i want to share a pro tip that not a lot of people are talking about hey i'm sheree social media strategist and i help business owners just like you with their social media and by the end of this video you are going to feel much more confident about your role on social media as a business owner and you're going to know all of the necessary steps that you should take to help you build brand awareness on social media so let's be honest just like me we all know exactly that feeling when you're just getting started and you pretty much have no idea what you're doing i know me for example i started off doing all of the wrong things in the beginning because i didn't really want to wait on perfection i just got started and unfortunately that's the risk that you take when you start messing so needless to say i am very very grateful for my mistakes you know a lot of people won't admit that but me i am very grateful for my mistakes so my advice to you is to be okay with making mistakes actually i want you to make mistakes but the key thing is that you learn from your mistakes and you document every single thing along the way like i'm not even playing the things that you think you shouldn't even write down write them down because a different part of your brain works when you actually write things down i'm serious look it up now the tips that i'm going to give you in today's video are just to help you but it's okay if you don't get it every single time okay your your job your goal is just to get that much better with every piece of content that you put out there all right now let's go ahead and get into the video the first step to building brand awareness through social media is to prioritize the platforms that perform a lot of people might disagree with this but the days of having just one platform are over it's just not going to work that way anymore i always recommend that you have a combination of either like pinterest and instagram and email or tick tock and instagram and email you know youtube yes of course but that's its own beast you need to have a combination of different platforms and utilize them the way that they're meant to be used am i saying that you have to be perfect on every single platform no but it is your job to meet people where they are a lot of people might not just be on instagram a lot of people might not just be on tick tock so you as a business owner if you want to build brand awareness and extend your reach it's important to meet people where they are but just be smart about it and put more energy and more effort into the platforms that are actually performing for you number two is definitely something that i know i'm guilty of and i've probably even mentioned this in previous videos but i know that i need to collaborate more and you should too collaborations just bring about so many great things for starters you can tap into somebody else's audience that's even a plus when you can collaborate with somebody that is in the same industry as you and maybe they're doing all the things that you want to be doing that you dream to do you know collaborate with them nine times out of ten some of their followers will be interested in the content that you are putting out there and you never know you might just actually gain a new loyal and engaged follower collaborate more tap into other people's audiences like i said i'm like i'm gonna do better y'all i promise oh and i forgot i forgot this one thing you gotta be social on social media a lot of people seem to forget that so let me just like remind you you gotta be social on social media three is to humanize your brand what does that mean to humanize your brand is to basically remove the businessy or the business expect from your business i know that sounds crazy but just to remove that element and to replace it with an element where people can actually relate to you and there's many ways that you can do that it's a great way to humanize your brand is to participate in some of the national holidays that come up so there's a national national day national month national week calendar it's like a website that you can go to and you can pull up all of the different national holidays participate in some of those that fit your brand for example i was just planning content the other day for one of my clients and national selfie day is coming up in june okay that's a very easy one that you your team can do so my idea for national selfie day is to get a roundup of selfies from her and the rest of her team just to kind of put out there on social media and it's like a little cute campaign you know she can participate in just for more exposure and you know just for people to have more to comment on well not more but maybe have something else to comment on for example we do a lot of you know posting about her business and maybe people don't really want to respond back to that each and every time now we're doing something a little different posting about our selfies maybe i might take it a step further and have you know people in box her their favorite selfies or something like that i don't know but the point is to just get creative and humanize yourself give people something to respond to and engage to that's outside of the normal business content you always put out there before i get into number four here's the little pro tip that i told you about earlier in this video so listen up all of the tips that i'm sharing with you in today's video are going to help you yes they will i promise if you actually apply these to your everyday routine okay they will help you but if you really want to build like brand awareness build a memorable brand using social media you have got to stand out the only way that you're going to stand out is by being creative constantly using trends that's not being creative that's basically using something that's already working now that works okay don't let me misrepresent that works but if you want to stand out amongst the crowd amongst a saturated market you have to be creative so you're going to have to put on your you know thinking caps and probably tap into that creative market that you didn't really know like hid in the back of your mind it's there i promise but you want to tap into that more when it comes to creating content that's the best way you're going to build brand awareness through social media now let's get into number four create quality content and let me share a little secret with you creating quality content does not always mean that you have to go out and do a whole photo shoot you know spend money on like a photographer a videographer and all that stuff no okay that is quality content yes but that's like quality content goes so much further than that quality content could be in your overall
Thanks Beaulah your participation is very much appreciated
